Job Details

Job Details / Responsibilities:

Prepare detailed preliminary budgets, milestone cost estimates, and final bid scope/pricing proposals for commercial construction projects including General Contracting, Construction Management, Design-Build, Civil, and Renovations
Perform quantity take-offs and cost estimates for materials, labor, equipment, and self-performed work (selective demolition, site-work, concrete, steel erection, carpentry, etc.)
Manage job-specific estimating teams in the assembly and submission of bids while maintaining timelines and accuracy
Review estimates for completeness and accuracy prior to formal submission
Consult with clients, architects, subcontractors, and suppliers to formulate estimates, identify cost reductions, and resolve issues
Analyze plans and specifications for constructability issues and general requirements in collaboration with operations teams
Develop proper bid packages, bid alternate strategies, and Bid Package Scope Analysis Worksheets
Manage subcontractor solicitation process, issue bid invitations, ensure adequate bid coverage (minimum 3–5 bids per trade), and review bids for conformity
Present and explain project budgets to clients, designers, and operations teams while leading estimate presentations
Conduct comprehensive bid-day analysis, enter pricing into software, complete bid forms, and develop clarifications
Attend pre-bid meetings, take minutes and photos, and periodically visit job sites at critical milestones
Conduct hand-off meetings with construction operations after project award
Participate in business development, client engagement, and industry organizations
Uphold company processes, culture, and values at all times

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management (preferred)
Minimum 8 years of construction and estimating experience
Significant experience with complex competitive bid projects
Proven track record working internally with operations teams and externally with Owners, Architects/Engineers, and subcontractors
Strong knowledge of retail, multi-story wood frame, healthcare, and industrial construction
Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
