Precision Centerless Grinding Machinist

At Mi-Tech Tungsten Metals, our 2nd shift team keeps production moving and tolerances tight. In this role, you’ll set up and run centerless grinding equipment, verify dimensions, and make on-the-fly adjustments to keep every part in spec.

A day on the 2nd shift

You’ll begin by preparing your grinder and verifying tooling and measurements. As you move through jobs, you’ll watch the grind, measure frequently, and correct anything that drifts—whether that means tweaking feeds and speeds, dressing wheels, or swapping them out entirely.

• Set up and operate centerless grinding machines, monitoring operations and measurements throughout each run.
• Adjust work guides and grinding blades to produce true, round parts for finishing operations.
• Straighten parts by hand or with a hydraulic press to prepare for grinding.
• Dial in machine operating parameters to maintain tight tolerances and desired surface finishes.
• Replace the regulating wheel or grinding wheel when required.
• Dress both regulating and grinding wheels according to instructions.
• Detect malfunctions, troubleshoot processes, and adjust controls to correct issues.

What you bring

• 1+ year of manufacturing experience.
• Hands-on skill with precision measurement tools: micrometers, comparators, and gauges.
• Mechanical aptitude and sound mathematical skills.
• Previous grinding background is a plus.
