Summary
Theoris Services is assisting our client in their search for a Power Systems Engineer to support the STABLE (Stability and Transfer Analysis for Broad Location Evaluation) initiative. This project focuses on automating outage coordination and stability assessment workflows to support increasing volumes of transmission outage evaluations driven by evolving grid dynamics.
This role will contribute to the design, development, integration, and validation of a modular software solution that supports steady-state and dynamic power system studies, integrates multiple operational data sources, and delivers intuitive visualization and reporting for outage coordination decisions.

Key Responsibilities
Support the automation of end-to-end outage coordination and stability analysis workflows.
Design and implement data ingestion pipelines integrating EMS, PI, CIMSpy, and outage management systems.
Develop case preparation logic to apply outages, zoning, and stressed base case scenarios.
Enable flexible creation of transfer definitions, contingencies, and fault scenarios.
Automate steady-state (VSAT) and dynamic (TSAT) studies, including batch processing and scenario execution.
Develop analysis and reporting capabilities, including transfer margins, impact assessments, and study summaries.
Build visualization tools such as dashboards, maps, and graphical summaries to support engineering and operational decision-making.
Contribute to GUI development (Tkinter-based) to support workflow orchestration and user interaction.
Support deployment, validation, and automated regression testing to ensure accuracy and performance.
Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure modeling fidelity and alignment with outage coordination objectives.
Participate in exploratory development of advanced capabilities as priorities and resources allow.

Qualifications
Strong background in power system stability analysis, including steady-state and dynamic studies.
Hands-on experience with power system modeling, simulation, and validation methodologies.
Experience integrating operational and planning data from systems such as EMS, PI, CIM, or outage management platforms.
Software development experience building production-grade tools, automation pipelines, or engineering applications.
Proficiency in Python or similar programming languages used for engineering automation and analysis.
Experience developing GUIs or workflow tools (Tkinter or similar frameworks preferred).
Understanding of power system study tools, data formats, and model conversions (e.g., RAW, PFB).
Ability to work cross-functionally with engineers, SMEs, and external vendors.
Strong documentation, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting outage coordination, transmission planning, or real-time operations.
Familiarity with VSAT, TSAT, or similar stability analysis tools.
Experience with security-constrained dispatch, load forecasting, or forward-looking operational studies.
Exposure to Node-Breaker modeling and advanced network representations.
Experience identifying limiting constraints, proxy constraints, or interface risk metrics.
Knowledge of cybersecurity and data governance requirements in utility environments.

About the Company

inSync Staffing

We recognize the VMS program management team is our customer and needs to be serviced with integrity, so we built and continue to improve upon our delivery methods as we strive to provide the highest quality service possible. inSync Staffing’s management team recognized ten years ago the inevitable changes to the staffing industry being brought about by technology and the growing trend of Fortune 1000 corporations to outsource management of their contingent workforces to meet compliance and cost control goals. Rather than swim upstream against the changes, inSync Staffing has embraced MSP and VMS programs as our customers, not competitors. We asked program managers how they want to be serviced. The result of their input is that we have structured inSync Staffing as a recruiting and customer service organization, unlike traditional staffing companies who sell directly to the end client. Our delivery model allows us concentrates our resources on how to best supply candidates in a very competitive MSP/VMS program environment.
