Power Level III Construction Manager
Primarily field-based across Kentucky, Ohio, and Indiana, the Power Level III Construction Manager is responsible for overseeing construction and installation activities related to wireless telecommunications infrastructure and electric vehicle (EV) charging deployments. This role provides advanced technical oversight for projects involving AC/DC power systems, EV charging equipment, wireless site infrastructure, and electrical distribution systems.
The Construction Manager ensures projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with engineering specifications, client standards, and regulatory requirements. This position requires strong field leadership, contractor management, and technical knowledge of telecommunications power systems and EV charging infrastructure.
Specific responsibilities
The following outlines the primary areas of responsibility. Additional responsibilities or functions may be required as necessary to support the business.
Project Oversight
- Manage day-to-day field construction activities for wireless telecom and EV charging infrastructure projects.
- Ensure compliance with project scope, engineering drawings, specifications, and client standards.
- Coordinate with engineering, permitting, utilities, and subcontractors throughout project lifecycle.
- Monitor construction schedules and ensure milestones are achieved.
- Identify and mitigate project risks, delays, and technical issues.
Electrical & Power Systems Management
- Oversee installation and commissioning of:
- AC electrical distribution systems
- DC power systems
- rectifiers, batteries, and power plants
- EV charging equipment (Level 2 and DC Fast Chargers)
- Ensure proper installation of transformers, switchgear, breakers, grounding systems, and conduit infrastructure.
- Validate electrical installations meet NEC, NESC, and local code requirements.
- Coordinate electrical inspections and utility energization.
Wireless Infrastructure Support
- Manage construction activities related to:
- cell tower sites
- small cell installations
- central office or hub facilities
- Coordinate installation of equipment cabinets, fiber backhaul, and power distribution systems.
- Ensure telecom equipment, power requirements and site readiness.
Contractor & Vendor Management
- Supervise general contractors, electrical contractors, and specialty telecom crews.
- Ensure contractors follow site safety protocols and construction standards.
- Review contractor work quality and approve completed work.
- Manage material deliveries and site logistics.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce compliance with:
- OSHA safety standards
- company safety policies
- electrical safety requirements
- Conduct site safety inspections and toolbox talks.
- Ensure proper documentation for safety compliance.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain project documentation including:
- daily construction reports
- site progress photos
- inspection reports
- change orders
- Track project budgets, schedules, and deliverables.
- Provide regular updates to project management and clients.
About you
- 5-10+ years of experience in telecommunications or electrical infrastructure construction.
- Experience managing wireless telecom site builds or upgrades.
- Experience with EV charging infrastructure installation preferred.
- Strong understanding of:
- AC/DC power systems
- electrical distribution
- grounding and bonding
- telecom power plants and battery systems
- Knowledge of NEC, OSHA, and electrical safety practices.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
- Experience coordinating with utilities and electrical inspectors.
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout Michigan.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with EV fast charging networks (DCFC).
- Familiarity with major telecom carriers (AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile).
- Experience with power commissioning and testing procedures.
- OSHA 30 certification.
- Journeyman Electrical license required.
