Role Overview
Initio Sphere is seeking qualified finance professionals to join as Certified Portfolio & Deal Analysts.
This is not a traditional employment role. Analysts operate as independent contractors and are activated through our certification, verification, and approval framework.
Once approved, Portfolio & Deal Analysts:
Are promoted within the Initio Sphere platform
Gain access to live deal flow and portfolio-level analytical work
Support investors, fund managers, and operators across individual transactions and portfolio monitoring
Contribute to investment analysis, execution support, and post-close performance tracking
Build a verified deal and portfolio track record and Analyst Rating Score
Certification tiers:
Senior Portfolio & Deal Analyst · Lead Portfolio & Deal Analyst · Portfolio & Deal Analyst / Associate
Analyst Levels & Pay Ranges
Senior Portfolio & Deal Analyst
Rating Score: 90–100
Pay: $150–200/hour
Typical Background:
Former investment banking, private equity, venture capital, private credit, real estate, or senior consulting professionals with 5+ years of transaction and portfolio management experience.
Lead Portfolio & Deal Analyst
Rating Score: 80–89
Pay: $100–150/hour
Typical Background:
Finance professionals with 3–5 years of experience spanning deal execution, valuation, and portfolio analytics.
Portfolio & Deal Analyst / Associate
Rating Score: 60–79
Pay: $50–100/hour
Typical Background:
Entry to mid-level analysts with strong technical capabilities in financial modeling, investment analysis, and performance tracking.
What You’ll Do (Approval-Based)
Depending on certification approvals, Portfolio & Deal Analysts may be engaged for:
Deal Analysis & Valuation
3-statement financial modeling
DCF, LBO, and transaction return modeling
Commercial real estate underwriting (where applicable)
Sensitivity and scenario analysis
Comparable company and precedent transaction analysis
Football field valuation summaries
Portfolio Analytics & Performance Monitoring
Portfolio-level return and exposure analysis
Asset performance tracking and variance analysis
Hold / sell / recapitalization scenario modeling
Concentration, risk, and downside analysis
LP and internal performance reporting support
Due Diligence & Transaction Support
Quality of Earnings (QoE) analysis
Commercial, financial, and operational diligence
Risk assessment and investment downside analysis
Investment memo and IC presentation support
Data room review and transaction analytics
Analysts may only perform work in categories they are approved for. Approvals are earned through assessment results and demonstrated performance—not tenure.
How Analysts Start Earning
Complete the Portfolio & Deal Analyst Certification Assessment or approved training
Receive category-specific approvals (Modeling, Valuation, Due Diligence, Portfolio Analytics)
Get verified on the platform
Begin earning immediately through hourly engagements and live deal and portfolio work
No cold applying. No unpaid “experience.” Verified analysts are actively promoted to investors, fund managers, and deal sponsors.
Certification & Eligibility
To qualify, you must meet at least one of the following:
Score 70% in at least one category of the Analyst Certification Assessment
Complete Initio Sphere Financial or Portfolio Analytics Training
Hold an active professional credential (CFA, CPA, Series 7, 63, 79, or equivalent)
Analyst Rating Score
Each Portfolio & Deal Analyst receives a 0–100 Analyst Rating Score, which determines:
Visibility across the Initio Sphere platform
Approved work categories
Recommended hourly rates
Eligibility for higher-value, portfolio-level engagements
Compensation & Deal Terms
Analysts are independent contractors, not employees
Hourly rates depend on Rating Score and approval level
Analysts may earn up to 10% of the first $100,000 in transaction fees
Maximum deal-based earning: $2,500 per transaction
Payments issued only after successful deal completion and fee collection
Initio Sphere reserves the right to revoke approvals for quality, performance, or compliance issues
