Police Sergeant
Responsible for performing all duties of a Police Officer while overseeing law enforcement operations to protect life and property. Key responsibilities include supervising police activities, ensuring compliance with laws and department policies, coordinating investigations, maintaining shift coverage, and managing equipment and vehicle upkeep. The Sergeant must uphold ethical standards, approve reports, and ensure timely communication during major incidents to maintain campus safety.
 
What you'll do in this position:
- Supervisory: administrative duties, reports, ensure shift coverage, provide positive leadership and direction.  Manage critical incidents.
- Parole duties: responding to calls, protecting life and property, providing police services to campus, enforcing Utah state laws, and Provo city ordinances.  Conduct investigations.
- Special Events: including but not limited to The Stadium of Fire, home football games, and some basketball games.  You may be assigned to traffic posts, gate posts, stadium posts and other posts to provide a safe and secure environment at these events.
 
What qualifies you for this role:
 
Required:
- Utah POST Certifications
- Completion of BYU FTO program
- Officer should not be on any form of supplemental probation for disciplinary actions
- 21 Years of age
- US Citizen
- Current and valid Utah drivers license without record of suspension or revocation in any state
 
Preferred:
- 10 years of experience as a certified Police Officer with BYU or comparable agency
- College degree or similar experience
 
Pay Grade: 54
Hourly Rate: $44.74 to $50.37
