The Junction City Police Department is seeking an experienced and ethical law enforcement professional to serve as Police Lieutenant, the agency's second-in-command.
This leadership position reports directly to the Chief of Police and oversees daily operations, supervises sergeants and officers, manages administrative functions, and ensures professional standards across the department. The Lieutenant also performs full patrol duties and responds to critical incidents as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise and lead department personnel
Oversee scheduling, evaluations, discipline, and training
Conduct internal affairs and professional standards investigations
Ensure compliance with department policies and state law
Respond to emergencies and perform full sworn patrol functions
Oversee accreditation, reporting, evidence, and administrative operations
Serve as liaison between the department and community
Minimum Qualifications:
Certified Oregon Law Enforcement Officer (DPSST)
Basic, Intermediate, and Advanced certifications
Ability to obtain Supervisory Certificate within one year
Valid Oregon driver license
Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
Preferred:
Advanced DPSST certification
3+ years of law enforcement leadership experience
Associate degree or higher
Experience with accreditation, case management, and community policing
This position requires strong ethics, sound judgment under pressure, and the ability to lead in both administrative and field environments.
