Police Corporal (Department Promotional)

Under direction, leads, oversees, reviews and performs the full range of law enforcement activities and duties; functions as a Beat Coordinator; assumes responsibility for the more difficult and complex tasks; performs related duties as required.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
The Police Corporal is the journey level class responsible for coordination of activities between Police Officers and Neighborhood Watch groups.  This classification is distinguished from the next lower classification of Police Officer I/II by the performance of the coordination and oversight responsibilities for a designated beat.
 
SUPERVISION RECEIVED/EXERCISED:
Direction is provided by a Police Sergeant. Exercises technical and functional supervision over lower level Police Officers in the absence of a Police Sergeant.
