Plastics Tooling Engineer

REPORTS TO : Maintenance and Engineering Manager

JOB PURPOSE : Develops and implements optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. Recommends and implements improvements to production processes, production tooling methods and controls (including environmental).

AUTHORITY: All employees have the authority to stop operations/production for the following three reasons: 1) a quality defect, 2) an unsafe act, or 3) a health hazard.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work directly with process engineers to produce drawings from sketches, existing drawings, and electronic images.

• Designs, develops and tests and/or sources and cost-justify various tools

• Represents manufacturing on cross-functional teams.

• Responsible for Set-up electronic database for all Plastic tooling

• Familiar with PC software i.e. excel/word/powerpoint

• Responsible for Tooling Design Records / Maintenance

• Responsible for specification, procurement, and coordination of maintenance and repair of injection mold tooling for several high-volume product lines

• Must have working knowledge of the Core Tools used to support the Quality Management system, including but not limited to, problem solving, product launches, and continuous improvement activities.

• Responsible for working with the Engineering and Quality departments to ensure compliance to the change management process; must have working knowledge of product deviation release, technical change process, CTM project.

• Ability to travel when required
