Potential Contract to Hire
Are you an experienced cost accountant looking for an opportunity to make an immediate impact in a dynamic manufacturing environment? We are seeking a Plant Cost Accountant to provide temporary support, with the potential to transition into a permanent role for the right candidate.
What You’ll Do
- Own plant financial reporting and serve as a key business partner to Operations Leadership.
- Act as liaison between operations and other departments.
- Complete month-end cost of goods sold entries and validate system data.
- Review inventory purchase transactions, analyze variances, and prepare summaries by category.
- Manage inventory accuracy processes, including cycle counting and reconciliation.
- Prepare product line income statements, margin reports, and variance analyses.
- Provide plants with daily labor and weekly overhead reports.
- Lead monthly operations reviews with variance explanations and corrective action recommendations.
- Support annual budget preparation and periodic forecast updates.
- Update standard inventory costs and product pricing in ERP systems.
- Drive cost-out initiatives and productivity improvements to offset inflation.
What We’re Looking For
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (MBA/CPA a plus).
- Experience: 5+ years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of cost accounting standards (BOMs, standard costing, reserves).
- ERP system experience (JDE, SAP, or similar).
- Ability to analyze data, identify trends, and recommend solutions.
- Type: Temporary assignment with potential to become permanent.
- Schedule: Hybrid – 1–2 days/week at Poynette plant, remaining days in Madison office.
- Compensation: Based on qualifications.
