Piping Designer Roles

Senior Design Specialist (Piping) | Senior Piping Designer | Principal Piping Designer
Onsite - Greenville, SC

We are supporting multiple onsite Piping Designer roles in Greenville, SC, spanning Senior Design Specialist through Principal level, depending on experience and demonstrated capability. These roles support large, complex EPC projects within industrial and nuclear-related environments.

Candidates may only be submitted at one level, which will be determined based on technical depth, scope ownership, and overall fit.


Core Responsibilities (Applies to All Levels)

  • Develop, review, and modify piping design deliverables in support of engineering and construction activities

  • Interpret P&IDs, specifications, vendor data, and field conditions

  • Develop piping models, drawings, and layouts using SmartPlant 3D (S3D) and related tools

  • Perform field walkdowns, incorporate redlines, and resolve design issues

  • Coordinate with mechanical, stress, structural, electrical, and construction disciplines

  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and project requirements

  • Support material take-offs, vendor reviews, fabrication, and construction support activities

Level-Specific Responsibilities & Qualifications

Senior Design Specialist (Piping) - 3 positions

Pay Rate:$75/hour, with a full benefits package

Responsibilities

  • Execute piping layouts and drawings with minimal supervision

  • Interpret engineering direction and established design practices

  • Modify existing drawings and develop new design details

  • Perform field system walkdowns and incorporate field direction

  • Provide limited guidance to junior designers as assigned

  • Escalate complex technical decisions to senior or principal-level designers

Typical Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a related technical field, or equivalent experience

  • Approximately 10+ years of piping design experience

  • Strong SmartPlant 3D (S3D) proficiency

  • Nuclear or large industrial EPC experience preferred

  • Execution-focused designer who works independently but does not lead overall piping scope


Senior Piping Designer - 5 positions

Pay Rate:$76/hour, with a full benefits package

Responsibilities

  • Lead piping layout development for assigned systems or areas

  • Review, check, and coordinate piping designs developed by other designers

  • Interface directly with engineering disciplines and construction to resolve design and constructability issues

  • Perform and review bulk material take-offs

  • Support procurement, vendor reviews, and fabrication activities

  • Serve as a technical resource and mentor for junior designers

Typical Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a related technical field, or equivalent experience

  • Approximately 12-15+ years of progressively responsible piping design experience

  • Proven lead-level design capability

  • Strong understanding of constructability and field execution

  • Extensive EPC project experience; nuclear experience strongly preferred


Principal Piping Designer - 3 positions

Pay Rate:$83/hour, with a full benefits package

Responsibilities

  • Serve as piping discipline technical authority for assigned scope or project areas

  • Establish piping layout strategies and resolve complex design conflicts

  • Approve and guide piping modeling standards and execution practices

  • Provide technical direction and mentoring to senior and intermediate designers

  • Coordinate closely with engineering leadership to ensure schedule, quality, and constructability objectives are met

  • Support resolution of high-risk or complex piping design issues

Typical Qualifications

  • Associate degree in a related technical field, or equivalent experience

  • Typically 15+ years of piping design experience on complex EPC projects

  • Demonstrated ownership of piping scope and technical leadership

  • Recognized expertise within the piping discipline

  • Extensive experience supporting industrial and nuclear facilities


Additional Qualifications (All Levels)

  • Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes and standards

  • Experience supporting construction, procurement, and field execution activities

  • Strong communication and coordination skills in a multi-discipline environment

  • Ability to work onsite in Greenville, SC

  • U.S. citizenship required
