Piping Design Technician Specialist

Job Summary

Provide direction and coordinate the work of sub-leads and piping designers to ensure project execution with high design quality. Manage delivery schedules, including escalation to project managers when schedules are at risk. Support the piping design team and facilitate the resolution of design challenges. Develop resource loaders to predict budget burn rates and overall estimates to complete work. Coordinate design with other disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, Structural, etc.) to ensure project success. This position may require field support activities on client sites, including site walks. Work with an engineering design team on high-tech industrial manufacturing facility projects. This is a hybrid position, with the candidate being hired in Portland, OR, for a 2-day/week in-office schedule.

Responsibilities

• Ensure project execution with high design quality.
• Manage delivery schedules and escalate to project managers when necessary.
• Support the piping design team and facilitate the resolution of design challenges.
• Develop resource loaders to predict budget burn rates and overall estimates to complete work.
• Coordinate design with other disciplines to ensure project success.
• Participate in field support activities on client sites, including site walks.

Qualifications

• Motivated, self-starting individual with 5 years of experience leading small teams as a senior designer.
• Experience in understanding and clarifying scope, working with cross-discipline teams, and meeting delivery schedules.
• Experience working with Process and Mechanical engineers to resolve design challenges.
• 15 years of experience in the layout of process and mechanical equipment and associated piping design.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Proficiency in CADWorx 3D and/or Revit design software and Navisworks.
• Experience with process mechanical piping systems, industrial waste, and high purity water systems is a plus.
• Experience in the microelectronics (Semiconductor) industry is a plus.
• Experience with pipe installation details and pipe supports is a plus.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

This is a hybrid position, with a 2-day/week in-office schedule in Portland, OR.
