Are you a dedicated healthcare professional seeking a rewarding opportunity in a picturesque setting? We are currently looking for motivated Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners to provide outstanding urgent care services at our outpatient Express Care clinics in Hancock, Michigan. This locum position offers the chance to work independently, make significant community impacts, and enjoy the serene Upper Peninsula environment.
In this role, you will serve as the sole provider during your scheduled blocks, supported by a competent team including an MA and receptionist. You will administer outpatient care to patients, averaging 14-28 visits daily, utilizing Athena EMR. The position requires onsite orientation prior to your first shift and offers an engaging schedule with multiple blocks from April through June, starting April 1, 2026.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Board Certified or Board Eligible as a PA or NP
- Active MI License, MI CS License, and MI DEA certification
- Active BLS Certification
- Recent clinical experience within the last 12 months or completion of an accredited NP/PA educational program in the last 12 months
- Ability to work independently as the sole provider during scheduled shifts
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and patient management skills
Nice to Have Skills:
- Previous urgent/emergency care experience
- Familiarity with Athena EMR system
- Multilingual abilities
- Experience working in rural healthcare settings
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Graduate degree in Physician Assistant Studies or Nurse Practitioner Program
- At least 1 year of similar outpatient clinical experience preferred but not mandatory
Other Requirements:
- Willingness to travel to two clinic locations (Calumet and Houghton)
- Onsite orientation scheduled for April 1, 2026, approximately 8 am - 3 pm
- Ability to demonstrate clinical competence and provide documentation promptly to facilitate credentialing (approximate 30 days)
- Temporary privileges granted as needed, with facility housing preferred if available
Position offers a highly competitive hourly pay rate of $1.00.
