As part of our continued growth as the leading Gastroenterology practice in Central Wisconsin, GI Associates is hiring two Advanced Practice Providers!
Here at GI Associates, our APP's provide comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic care to patients in collaboration with supervising physicians. This role delivers high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective care to patients and their families within our clinics, playing a key part in ensuring continuity, clinical excellence, and an exceptional patient experience.
Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities
- Provides patient care consistent with clinical standards including assessment, diagnosis, outcome identification, planning, implementation and evaluation in the hospital, clinic, and outreach sites.
- Effectively communicates and coordinates plan of care with patients and their families, referring physicians, and supporting professional team members in both the hospital and clinic setting.
- Documents all actions and plans accurately, timely and per standards of the setting in which patient care is rendered including successful participation in quality reporting programs (PQRS, Meaningful Use, Clinical guidelines, etc.).
- Collaborates with the Clinic Coordinator, Reception, and Clinical Team Leads to build and maintain a cohesive, patient-focused clinic medical assistant team environment.
- Provides inpatient coverage including patient rounds, performing consults, and ordering and monitoring lab tests and radiology results. Assures that supervising physician is informed about patient condition, test results and care plans at all times. Coordinates post-discharge follow-up plan with GIA providers to assure continuity of care.
- Maintains clinic schedule that maximizes patient access to appointment (including outreach locations) and designed to meet productivity targets as defined by the clinic.
- Provides in-service education for GIA staff, patient support groups, and community education forums. Assists in the development of patient education materials.
- Maintains clinical and coding knowledge in an evolving healthcare environment.
- Serves as a role model of customer service for patients, co-workers, and referring providers.
Minimum Qualifications
- Education
- Graduate of an accredited physician assistant or nurse practitioner program.
- Licensure/Certification
- Current and valid Wisconsin Physician Assistant license, or Wisconsin Registered Nurse license and Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber license.
- Current NCCPA certification, or AANP or ANCC certification.
- BLS & ACLS certification required.
- Experience
- Minimum of one- to three-years of practice experience in an adult medicine setting preferred.
Competencies Required
- Knowledge
- Knowledge of medical diagnostic and therapeutic principles, practices and techniques.
- Advanced clinical knowledge of the GI system, pharmaceuticals, and GI related diagnostic testing (lab and radiology).
- Knowledge of location, care, operation, and safety hazards of medical equipment, instruments and procedures to administer effective, safe patient care.
- Knowledge of regulatory and licensing requirements, including documentation standards, coding, billing and appropriate use of medical terminology and abbreviations.
- Skills
- Possesses interpersonal, communication, and listening skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with patients, physicians, and all staff members.
- Proficient computer skills working in an Electronic Medical Record (EMR). Demonstrates professionalism and respect in all forms of communication and correspondence.
- Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion and decision making to achieve organizational objectives.
