Title: Physician Assistant - Orthopedic Surgery (LOA Coverage)
Location: Queens, NY
Employment Type: Contract 2x12 Either Tue/Fri, Tue/Wed or Wed/Fri, 06:00am-07:00pm
Compensation:
Pay Range: $90.00-$100 Per HR
Summary:
• A Level 1 trauma hospital in Queens is seeking two (2) Physician Assistants to cover a leave of absence in the Orthopedic Surgery department.
• This is a hands-on role supporting surgical procedures, patient care, and post-operative management in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
• Assist with surgical procedures, diagnostic ultrasound, and ultrasound-guided injections
• Perform initial and follow-up evaluations independently or with the physician
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and care teams to coordinate patient care
• Perform joint aspirations and injections
• Participate in morning rounds and document hospital encounter notes
• Apply casts and splints
• Order and monitor physical/occupational therapy services
• Respond to patient calls and facilitate care delivery
• Write post-operative orders and dictate discharge summaries
• Order and evaluate x-rays, MRIs, and CTs
• Educate patients and families on diagnosis, treatment, and prevention
• Close wounds and maintain hospital privileges where required
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree required; graduate of an accredited PA program
• 1–2 years’ experience in Orthopedic Surgery preferred
• Experience with EPIC/EMR
• NYS PA License required
• Team-oriented with strong clinical and diagnostic skills
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs.
• Bilingual is a plus
