Job Summary:
The Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) represents the face of the company to patients who come in as part of their health routine or for insights into life-defining health decisions. The PSR I draws quality blood samples and prepares specimens for laboratory testing while following established practices and procedures.
The PSR I has direct contact with patients and creates an atmosphere of trust and confidence while explaining procedures and drawing blood specimens in a skillful, safe, and accurate manner. This role demonstrates leadership behaviors while focusing on process excellence, confidentiality, and accuracy of patient information.
Under the direction of the area supervisor, the PSR I performs daily activities accurately and on time, maintains a safe and professional environment, and confidently performs forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing duties.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Draw quality blood samples and prepare specimens for laboratory testing
  • Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing
  • Maintain required records and documentation
  • Promote a positive image to patients, clients, employees, and the public
  • Maintain a safe and professional environment
  • Follow established laboratory practices and procedures
  • Work flexible schedules including weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime as required
Required Experience:
  • Minimum of 6 months phlebotomy experience required
  • One or more years of phlebotomy experience preferred
  • Excellent phlebotomy skills including pediatric and geriatric collections
  • Ability to provide quality, error-free work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal on-site supervision
  • Customer service experience in a retail or service environment preferred
  • Keyboard and data entry experience required
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
Nice-to-Have Experience:
  • Medical assistant or paramedic training
  • Experience in a patient service center environment
