Job Overview
The Patient Services Representative II (PSR II) serves as the face of the organization, providing exceptional phlebotomy services and patient care. This role is responsible for collecting high-quality blood specimens, preparing samples for laboratory testing, and ensuring all procedures are performed safely, accurately, and in accordance with established standards.
The PSR II interacts directly with patients in doctor’s offices, patient service centers, and other assigned locations. This role requires professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to foster trust while maintaining strict patient confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform daily specimen collection and processing activities accurately and on time.
- Draw quality blood samples, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
- Conduct forensic and clinical specimen collection following established procedures.
- Verify patient demographic information and ensure accurate specimen labeling in the patient’s presence.
- Maintain required documentation and records with a high degree of accuracy.
- Promote a safe, professional, and patient-centered environment.
- Demonstrate organizational commitment and maintain a positive public image.
- Travel to multiple locations as needed with minimal notice.
Required Qualifications
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent (Required)
- Medical Assistant or Paramedic training (Preferred)
- Phlebotomy Certification (Preferred; required in CA, NV, and WA)
Work Experience
- 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience (required)
- Experience in pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections (required)
- 2 years in a Patient Service Center environment (preferred)
- Customer service experience in retail or service setting (highly preferred)
- Keyboard/data entry experience

- Ability to deliver error-free work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong independent decision-making and judgment
- Superior customer service and communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in high-volume settings
- Flexible availability, including weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call coverage
- Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license (if applicable)
Work Environment & Additional Details
- Onsite position in Kansas City, MO
- Travel required to support multiple Patient Service Center/In-Office locations
- Temporary coverage due to short-term disability leave
- No hospital credentialing required
