Job Summary:
The Phlebotomist Patient Services Representative - Floater serves as the primary patient-facing representative responsible for performing blood specimen collection and supporting laboratory testing operations across multiple service locations. This role requires advanced phlebotomy expertise and the ability to adapt quickly to different patient care environments including patient service centers, physician offices, long-term care facilities, and mobile collection settings.
The phlebotomist ensures that daily activities within patient service centers and other collection environments are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with established clinical procedures. This role also provides mentorship and support to team members while maintaining high standards for patient care, confidentiality, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections for patients across multiple service locations.
  • Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing following established procedures.
  • Verify patient identification and ensure specimen labels are accurate and confirmed with patients.
  • Support daily operations of patient service centers, physician offices, and other collection sites.
  • Provide coverage across multiple roles including mobile phlebotomy, long-term care, and in-office collection environments.
  • Maintain required documentation and specimen records accurately.
  • Serve as a mentor and resource for new employees, providing training and onboarding support.
  • Assist with directing daily activities for on-site patient service staff when needed.
  • Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams including laboratory services, IT, billing, logistics, and sales teams.
  • Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and confidentiality standards.
  • Manage multiple priorities within high-volume patient environments.
Required Experience:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections.
  • Experience working in Patient Service Center or In-Office Phlebotomy environments.
  • Experience performing specimen collection in high-volume healthcare settings.
  • Experience providing mentorship or guidance to team members.
Nice-to-Have Experience:
  • Medical assistant or paramedic training.
  • Phlebotomy certification (preferred; required in some states).
  • Experience working with long-term care or mobile phlebotomy environments.
  • Customer service experience in healthcare or service environments.
