Job Summary:
The Phlebotomist Patient Services Representative II serves as the primary patient-facing representative responsible for collecting blood specimens and preparing them for laboratory testing. This role ensures accurate specimen collection while maintaining high standards for patient care, confidentiality, and compliance with established clinical procedures.
The Phlebotomist Patient Services Representative II serves as the primary patient-facing representative responsible for collecting blood specimens and preparing them for laboratory testing. The phlebotomist interacts directly with patients in physician offices and patient service centers, creating a professional and supportive environment while explaining procedures and performing blood draws safely and accurately. The position requires strong technical phlebotomy skills and the ability to operate efficiently in fast-paced healthcare environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collections following established procedures.
- Prepare and process specimens for laboratory testing.
- Verify patient identification and demographic information prior to specimen collection.
- Label specimens accurately and confirm patient verification following collection.
- Maintain required records and documentation for specimen processing.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety and organizational policies.
- Provide professional and courteous patient service while maintaining confidentiality.
- Support operations across patient service centers or physician offices as needed.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
- Demonstrate leadership behaviors and promote a positive experience for patients and staff.
Required Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- 1–3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric and geriatric collections.
- Experience performing venipuncture and capillary specimen collections.
- Experience working in high-volume patient service environments.
- Experience performing data entry and maintaining patient documentation.
Nice-to-Have Experience:
- Experience working in a Patient Service Center environment.
- Medical assistant or paramedic training.
- Phlebotomy certification (preferred; required in some states).
- Customer service experience in retail or healthcare environments.
Required Skills:
- Venipuncture and specimen collection techniques
- Patient identification verification and specimen labeling
