Shift/Hours: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM, rotational Saturdays required
Job Summary
The Phlebotomist – Floater (PSR III) serves as the face of the organization, delivering exceptional patient care while performing high-quality blood specimen collection and processing. This role requires direct patient interaction, ensuring accuracy, confidentiality, and a professional experience during both routine health visits and critical diagnostic procedures.
The PSR III performs venipuncture and capillary collections following established procedures while maintaining strict compliance with patient identification verification and labeling protocols. This position requires flexibility to support multiple locations including patient service centers and physician offices as business needs dictate.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform forensic and clinical specimen collection and processing accurately and efficiently
- Verify patient demographic information and obtain patient signatures post-venipuncture
- Ensure proper specimen labeling in patient presence
- Maintain required documentation and records
- Demonstrate organizational commitment and promote a positive company image
- Maintain a safe, professional, and compliant work environment
- Travel between multiple locations with minimal notice
- Work flexible schedules including weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call shifts
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of phlebotomy experience, including pediatric and geriatric collections
- Experience with capillary collections
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and clean driving record (VA credentials required)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume setting
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Keyboard and data entry proficiency
Preferred Qualifications
- Medical assistant or paramedic training
- Phlebotomy certification (required in CA, NV, WA; preferred in VA)
- Minimum 2 years of Patient Service Center experience
- Retail or service industry customer service experience
Work Environment & Expectations
- Onsite position in Midlothian, VA
- Travel required between Patient Service Centers and in-office phlebotomy locations
- Training location may vary based on trainer availability
- Must comply with Company policies, dress code, safety guidelines, and confidentiality standards
