Job Summary:
The Phlebotomist III – Float represents the face of the company to patients seeking routine health services or critical diagnostic insights. This role draws quality blood samples and prepares specimens for laboratory testing while following established procedures and best practices.
The Phlebotomist III – Float provides coverage at multiple locations and ensures that daily activities across Patient Service Centers, Mobile, Long Term Care, and In-Office Phlebotomy settings are completed accurately and on time. This position requires leadership, advanced technical skills, strong communication abilities, and the capacity to manage high-complexity patient environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draw quality blood samples and prepare specimens for lab testing
- Provide coverage across multiple locations and roles
- Ensure daily activities are completed accurately and on time
- Maintain a safe, professional, and confidential environment
- Lead one or more PSR staff on-site when required
- Serve as coach, mentor, and instructor for new employees
- Provide onboarding support for new clients
- Act as point of contact for on-site staff and communicate regularly with group lead or supervisor
- Support high-complexity and high-volume practices requiring advanced phlebotomy skills
- Collaborate with Sales, Laboratory Testing Services, IT, Billing, and Logistics teams
- Handle multiple priorities in a high-volume setting
Required Experience:
- Five years of phlebotomy experience (including pediatric, geriatric, and capillary collections)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a high-volume environment
- Strong customer-facing communication skills (verbal and written)
- Problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration skills
- Keyboard and data entry experience
Nice-to-Have Experience:
- Minimum three years in a PSC/IOP environment
- Customer service experience in retail or service environment
- Medical assistant or paramedic training
- Phlebotomy certification preferred (Required in California, Nevada, and Washington)
