Purpose & Scope:
The Pharmacy Quality and Safety Manager is responsible for coordinating operational and clinical pharmacy services to ensure that the pharmacy department provides safe and high-level quality services on a daily basis. The Pharmacy Manager facilitates the development, implementation and maintenance of systems that promote desirable patient outcomes through the use of safe, appropriate, cost-effective medication therapies. This shall be carried out in accordance with and all federal and state laws, TJC standards and hospital/departmental policies and procedures.
Education:
Graduation from an accredited school of pharmacy is required.
Experience:
Two years of hospital experience is required.
Leadership experience is preferred.
Certification/Licensure:
Licensed as a Pharmacist by the Virginia Department of Health Professions required.
Other Qualifications
The pharmacy manager must possess strong knowledge of Hospital Pharmacy Services; strong knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and professional standards; strong project management skills; good communication skills; good strategic planning skills; strong change management skills; must demonstrate personal traits of a high level of motivation; team orientation; professionalism; trust; and place a high value on treating others with dignity and respect.
