Payroll Specialist
Location: White Plains, NY (Fully On-Site)
Compensation: $80-90K
About the Role:
We're partnering with an exceptional organization, based in White Plains, to place a Payroll Specialist who thrives on precision and problem-solving. This role supports 400 employees in a dynamic educational environment, combining payroll processing, retirement plan administration, and accounting support.
What You'll Do:
- Process bi-weekly payroll including complex union calculations, teacher stipends, and variable pay (~40%)
- Manage 403(b) retirement tracking across 4 accounts with manual reconciliation and ADP entry (~30%)
- Handle accounting reconciliations and reporting, with opportunities to support broader finance needs (~20%)
- Respond to employee inquiries within 24-hour SLA and ensure union contract compliance (~10%)
- Maintain EDI feeds to benefit carriers and retirement providers
- Collaborate with HR, finance, and external vendors on audits and reporting
What You Bring:
Must-Haves:
- Strong payroll processing background with accounting experience
- Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, complex reconciliations)
- Experience with high-touch, union-heavy payrolls
- Ability to learn systems quickly (ADP, manual 403(b) processes)
- Customer service mindset
