The Opportunity

We are collaborating with manufacturing firms in Walker that are seeking skilled Payroll Specialists. Key Responsibilities

  • Process accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll for all manufacturing employees, including hourly, salaried, and contract staff.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax laws, company policies, and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Calculate and process various deductions, including benefits, 401(k) contributions, garnishments, and other voluntary deductions.
  • Reconcile payroll prior to transmission and resolve any discrepancies or payroll-related issues promptly.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and employee data within the HRIS/payroll system, reflecting new hires, terminations, and pay rate changes.
  • Collaborate with HR and production management to ensure accurate timecard data collection and approval, especially for shift differentials and overtime.
  • Prepare and submit payroll reports for general ledger reconciliation, management review, and audit purposes.

Recommended Qualifications

  • 3-5 years of full-cycle payroll processing experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with major payroll software (e.g., ADP, Workday) and timekeeping systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws and multi-state compliance.
  • Proven ability to accurately calculate complex wages, overtime, shift differentials, and deductions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and commitment to confidentiality.
  • Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience with union payroll and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Proficiency in advanced time and attendance systems (e.g., Kronos, UKG).
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC).
  • Experience processing payroll within a large-scale ERP system (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
