Payroll Specialist (MUNIS)

Greater New Haven, CT Area
Target Compensation: $65,000 – $80,000

A respected and well-established organization in the public sector / government services space is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist with MUNIS experience to join its accounting team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys the structure and importance of payroll while working in an organization that values accuracy, compliance, and service to its employees.
The ideal candidate will bring hands-on MUNIS payroll experience, strong attention to detail, and the ability to manage payroll for a multi-department workforce.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process full-cycle payroll for a multi-department employee population using MUNIS
  • Ensure payroll is processed accurately and on schedule, including regular, overtime, and special payroll runs
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records, including tax withholding, direct deposits, and benefit deductions
  • Review and validate timesheets, payroll reports, and earnings codes prior to processing
  • Manage garnishments, deductions, and benefit withholdings
  • Reconcile payroll reports and assist with month-end and year-end payroll activities
  • Support W-2 processing, audits, and payroll reporting requirements
  • Respond to employee and management payroll inquiries and resolve discrepancies

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of payroll processing experience
  • Hands-on MUNIS payroll system experience required
  • Knowledge of payroll regulations, tax withholding, and compliance requirements
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage sensitive information with high confidentiality
  • Proficiency in Excel and payroll reporting tools
