Job Details

You will be:

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing for a multi-location retail organization, ensuring accurate and timely pay for hourly and salaried employees in compliance with federal, California, and local regulations.
  • 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, including at least 2 years in a lead or manager role; multi-site retail or hospitality experience strongly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency with payroll systems (such as ADP, Paychex, or similar), time and attendance tools, and Microsoft Excel, including the ability to audit data and build reports.
  • In-depth knowledge of wage and hour laws, overtime rules, sick leave, meal and rest break premiums, and other California-specific requirements, plus familiarity with benefits and 401(k) deductions.
  • Experience managing payroll for a mix of full-time, part-time, and seasonal staff, including new hire setup, status changes, terminations, and final pay.
  • Proven ability to develop, document, and improve payroll processes and controls, and to partner effectively with HR, Finance, and store leadership.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail and a commitment to confidentiality and data integrity.
  • Clear, professional communication skills and the ability to explain payroll concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, HR, or related field preferred; a relevant certification (e.g., CPP or FPC) is a plus.
