Payroll Consultant (UKG Expert – Power BI Focus)

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Payroll Analyst with deep UKG expertise to step into a fast-paced, high-volume environment and take ownership of a critical payroll cleanup initiative. This is a hands-on role for a self-sufficient payroll professional who can serve as the go-to subject matter expert in UKG, including advanced reporting and analytics.

About the Role:
In this high-impact, temporary position, you will independently manage the full payroll function for both production (weekly) and corporate (bi-weekly) employees while identifying and resolving existing payroll discrepancies. You’ll be the sole payroll professional, responsible not only for execution, but also for stabilizing processes, improving reporting visibility, and ensuring long-term accuracy.

This role requires someone who can leverage UKG at an expert level—including building, running, and analyzing reports through Power BI—to support payroll accuracy, auditing, and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities of the Payroll Consultant:

• Lead a full payroll cleanup initiative across production and corporate populations
• Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll with a high degree of accuracy and ownership
• Serve as the UKG subject matter expert, including advanced reporting and data analysis using Power BI within UKG
• Identify discrepancies, audit payroll data, and implement process improvements
• Manage payroll tax processes, including California compliance requirements
• Document payroll procedures, workflows, and year-end processes
• Operate independently as the sole payroll resource in a high-volume environment
• Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate payroll delivery

What You Bring as the Payroll Consultant:

• 10+ years of payroll experience in high-volume environments
• Expert-level experience with UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) — required
• Hands-on experience using Power BI within UKG for reporting and analytics — required
• Strong knowledge of payroll tax, including California payroll compliance
• Proven ability to independently manage full-cycle payroll operations
• Experience leading payroll cleanups, audits, or process improvements
• Advanced Excel skills
• Experience documenting payroll processes and controls
• Bilingual is a plus
