Job Summary
The Payroll Clerk is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees at Alta Vista Community Care Center. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while maintaining the confidentiality of employee information in a healthcare environment.
- Process weekly and/or bi-weekly payroll for hourly and salaried healthcare employees
- Review and verify timecards, shift differentials, overtime, on-call pay, and PTO
- Enter and maintain payroll data for new hires, terminations, wage changes, and benefits deductions
- Ensure payroll compliance with FLSA, state wage laws, and healthcare labor regulations
- Coordinate with HR regarding employee status updates, leaves of absence, and benefits changes
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding paychecks, deductions, and payroll corrections
- Assist with payroll audits, reconciliations, and reports
- Support year-end payroll processes, including W-2 distribution
- Maintain strict confidentiality and HIPAA-compliant handling of employee information
- Work closely with management to meet payroll deadlines
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate degree in Accounting, Business, or related field preferred
- Minimum 1–2 years of payroll experience, preferably in healthcare or long-term care
- Knowledge of timekeeping systems and payroll software
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting tools
- Strong communication and customer service skills
