Payroll Clerk

Payroll Clerk Responsibilities:
- Weekly disbursement of company payroll, including garnishments, benefits and taxes consistent with federal and state wage and hour laws.
- Review accuracy of weekly time. Verify reported overtime and other standard pay variances with employee supervisors when in question.
- Update and process weekly garnishments (child support, IRS, etc.).
- Update and process insurance benefits and voluntary deductions (HSA, 401(k), etc.).
- Forward weekly tax withholdings and payroll deduction monies to appropriate authorities in compliance with prescribed timelines.
- Ensure payroll system is continuously accurate in reflecting current employee pay profiles, including wages, benefits, sick and vacation time
- Communicate actively to review cross- departmental impacts and reconcile data and task sharing.
- Provide backup coverage to departments as related to payroll functions
- Participate in process improvement implementation.
- Perform additional assignments as requested/needed.
Payroll Clerk Education & Skills:
- Associates or Bachelors degree
- Minimum 2 years’ payroll experience
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll tax laws as well as wage and hour provisions
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently meet payroll scheduling requirements
