Job Details
This role is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll and the effective administration of employee benefits programs. The position maintains compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local payroll regulations while managing benefits enrollments, updates, and communications. The individual in this role supports employee satisfaction by providing clear, responsive assistance with payroll and benefits inquiries. Overall, this position helps ensure employees are paid accurately and have access to essential benefits, supporting organizational efficiency and compliance.
Responsibilities:
- Process weekly or bi-weekly payroll accurately and on schedule, including calculation of wages, deductions, and taxes.
- Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies; manage enrollments, changes, and terminations.
- Maintain payroll and benefits records while ensuring data integrity and confidentiality.
- Ensure compliance with applicable payroll laws and regulations, including tax filings and reporting requirements.
- Respond promptly to employee inquiries related to payroll and benefits, providing accurate and clear information.
- Collaborate with internal departments to resolve payroll discrepancies and benefits-related issues.
- Prepare and distribute payroll-related reports as needed.
- Support payroll and benefits audits and assist with implementing corrective actions when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Accounting, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing and benefits administration.
- Strong knowledge of U.S. payroll systems, tax regulations, and employee benefits programs.
- Familiarity with employee benefit plans, including health insurance and 401(k) plans.
- Knowledge of FMLA and leave of absence administration.
- Proficiency with payroll software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with HRIS and benefits administration platforms.
- Experience processing multi-state payroll.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills for interaction with employees and leadership.
Skills:
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple records and benefits enrollments simultaneously.
- Strong communication skills for responding to employee questions and coordinating with internal teams and vendors.
- Analytical skills to identify discrepancies and implement effective solutions.
- Proficiency with HRIS and benefits platforms to support streamlined and accurate recordkeeping.
