Overview
Beacon Hill Financial has partnered with a client in Washington, DC in their search for a Payroll Accountant to join their team. This fully onsite role is responsible for managing payroll processes while supporting general accounting functions to ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and able to handle sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality.
Key Responsibilities
- Process and manage payroll on a regular cycle, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Maintain payroll records, including employee earnings, deductions, and benefits; resolve payroll discrepancies.
- Reconcile payroll accounts and prepare related journal entries for the general ledger.
- Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes related to payroll and benefits.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Assist with audits by preparing payroll documentation and responding to inquiries.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams on employee data, reporting, and process improvements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- Strong understanding of payroll processes, tax regulations, and general accounting principles.
- Experience with payroll systems and accounting software preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and reconciliation.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
