Job Summary

Primarily responsible for posting all Third Party Payer payments both electronically and manually.  Assists with answering the Patient Financial Services Call line and sending account information daily to contracted vendors.  Strives for superior performance by consistently providing a product or service to leadership and staff that is recognized as ultimately contributing to the patient and family experience.  Recognizes and demonstrates understanding of patient and family centered care

Job Relationships

Responsible to:           Patient Financial Services Manager; Revenue Cycle Director

Workers Supervised:  None

Inter-relationships:    Patient Access; MMA billing staff, other hospital departments; contracted vendors; internal and external customers

Primary Job Responsibilities

1.      Daily processes Third Party Payer electronic 835 remit files and/or manually creates posting batches of Third Party Payer payments verifying accuracy of the created batches.

2.      Daily scans any paper Third Party Payer remittances into OnBase for archival purposes.

3.      Assists with answering the Patient Financial Services Call line and works with patients to resolve any outstanding issues regarding their accounts.

4.      Assists with sending daily scheduled files to correct contracted vendors.

5.      Any and all other duties/responsibilities as requested or assigned by the Patient Financial Services Manager or Director of Revenue Cycle.

6.      Demonstrates knowledge of and supports hospital mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality statements, corporate compliance plan, customer service standards, and the code of ethical behavior

Job Specifications

1.      EDUCATION:  High School Diploma or equivalent required.

2.      QUALITIES:  Attention to detail, professional phone skills

Essential Physical Abilities/Motor Skills

1.       Able to travel independently throughout all Memorial Healthcare facilities.

2.       Small motor skills required for operating modern computer, office, and telephone equipment as utilized by Memorial Healthcare (MHC).

3.       Must be able to sit for long periods of time

1.       Ability to adapt and maintain focus in fast paced, quickly changing or stressful situations.

2.       Ability to read and interpret a variety of documents including, but not limited to policies, operating instructions, white papers, regulations, rules and laws
