Job Details
We are seeking a Technical Advisor to join a patent prosecution practice supporting clients with the development and protection of innovative technologies. This role is ideal for a technically trained professional with an interest in patent prosecution who enjoys hands‑on drafting, analysis, and collaboration with attorneys, inventors, and technical teams.
The position offers exposure to a broad range of technologies and meaningful involvement across all stages of U.S. and foreign patent prosecution.
What You’ll Do
Review invention disclosures and participate in inventor disclosure meetings
Conduct prior art searches and analyze patentability
Draft patent applications across a range of technologies
Support responses to USPTO office actions, including strategy development and examiner interviews
Assist with management of U.S. and foreign patent dockets
Support patent due diligence and freedom‑to‑operate analyses
Collaborate closely with attorneys, patent agents, and other technical advisors to ensure high‑quality prosecution work
What We’re Looking For
Technical background in computer science, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, or a related field
Interest in technologies such as software, hardware/devices, databases, artificial intelligence, wireless, or image/signal processing
USPTO registration preferred but not required
Prior law firm experience strongly preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills
High level of professionalism in working with clients and colleagues
Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities
Collaborative team player
