Smith Fork Ranch is an all-inclusive, luxury guest ranch hosting one private group at a time. Our culinary program supports an elevated guest experience through thoughtful menus, seasonal ingredients, and consistent execution. Located in the Gunnison National Forest, our farm-to-table kitchen focuses on locally sourced ingredients from the North Fork Valley, including premium meats, farm-fresh vegetables, orchard fruits, and award-winning local wines. Menus are seasonal, intentional, and rooted in place.
The Pastry Chef is responsible for preparing high-quality baked goods and desserts that support the overall dining program at Smith Fork Ranch. This includes house-made breads, breakfast pastries, plated desserts, and rustic campfire offerings. You will work closely with the Head Chef and Sous Chef in a collaborative kitchen environment that values consistency, craftsmanship, and attention to detail.
This role is well suited for an early riser who enjoys scratch baking, seasonal ingredients, and working within a structured, professional kitchen.
Prepare pastries, breads, and desserts for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special events
Collaborate with the Head Chef and Sous Chef on seasonal menu development
Execute consistent quality, flavor, and presentation across all pastry items
Manage pastry ingredients and inventory while minimizing waste
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the pastry station
Follow all food safety and sanitation standards
Develop and refine recipes using established techniques and seasonal ingredients
Accommodate dietary restrictions while maintaining flavor and presentation standards
3+ years of experience as a Pastry Chef or in a similar role within a high-end restaurant, resort, or guest ranch
Strong knowledge of baking techniques, pastry production, and plated dessert presentation
Experience working with seasonal, farm-to-table ingredients
Ability to work independently while collaborating with a small kitchen team
Strong time management and organizational skills
Ability to adapt recipes for gluten-free, dairy-free, and plant-based needs
Consistent attention to detail and quality.
Ability to stand, walk, kneel, and reach for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and frequently lift up to 10 lbs
Ability to work in variable temperatures, including walk-in refrigerators and freezers
Ability to read and execute recipes accurately
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States (no sponsorship available)
Willingness to work weekends, evenings, and holidays based on guest schedule
Relocation to Crawford, CO required prior to start date
Housing is available for this position
