Job Description:

Full-Time, Faculty, 9-month Academic position -- Automotive Faculty. This is a Full-Time, due process, benefited Faculty position beginning Fall, 2025.
The faculty member will conduct their assignments and co-curricular college activities in a manner consistent with the philosophy and purpose of Aims Community College as stated in the school catalog. The primary purpose of the faculty member is to teach. The faculty member is also responsible for professional development and service to the college.
Teach classes on a morning, afternoon, evening, weekend, or combined schedule as assigned. In addition to participating in institutional/department recruiting and retention activities, duties will also include advising new and returning students through the occupational Certificates and AAS Degree Programs. Develop and/or modify curriculum as necessary to meet the changing technology of the automotive service repair and management field. Assist the program director in the daily operational tasks, including the selection, acquisition, repair, and maintenance of program equipment and facilities. Participate in department, program, division, and college meetings, activities, and comply with all Aims Community College and ASE Educational Foundation/NATEF policies and procedures including program certifications. Involvement by attending classes, seminars, and workshops to stay current in the professional areas of teaching and technical automotive service technology repair is a required activity. Must acquire and track 40 hours of yearly technically specific professional development and training to maintain current and relevant skills and training. Position will require extensive tasks in regards to meeting area shop owners, shop maintenance, and scheduling as required. AYES/Career Academy/SkillUSA and like program coordination and participation involvement are also part of the job required job duties. Student and prospective students' interaction and participation in program related activities including recruiting, tours, SkillsUSA, Automotive student clubs, and other activities including the Annual Aims Automotive Car Show are requirements. Assisting the Automotive Programs in evaluation and selection, adoption, and acquisition of equipment, textbooks, other resources, and materials is necessary as is pricing, bid, and item acquisition. Moving, staging, set up, testing, teardown, inventory, and disposition of, vehicles, equipment, materials, and supplies is a required activity. Responsible for creating, maintaining instructional materials, and student records such as syllabus, tests, and grades. Implementation of the Aims Community Colleg 's mission statement and goals while completing the department, program, and division goals/directives as assigned is expected. Retrieval, Inventory, Maintenance, Repair, and Disposal of Aims Automotive Instructional Fleet Vehicles is a required role of this position. This includes the repair of all student instructional lab projects to pre-instructional condition. Additionally, this position is responsible for maintaining program vehicles and their condition. Follow all Program Rules, Regulations, and Standard Operating Practices including Inventory, Shop Controls, Tool Programs, and other Program Requirements.
Teaching & Professional Obligations:
- Interacting with students to provide opportunities to learn, creating conditions that facilitate learning, and using techniques and methods that create a high probability that learning will occur.
- Instructional Delivery: Providing clear communication of information and promoting learning through an effective learning environment.
- Instructional Design: Designing, sequencing, implementing, and presenting experiences which promote student learning (both in-person & online), and designing, developing, and implementing tools, technologies, and procedures for assessing student-learning outcomes.
- Collaborate in the development and implementation of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments of learning for students.
- Provide effective and high-quality instruction of subject being taught.
- Apply learning-centered educational practices such as creating and communicating clearly-defined outcomes for student learning.
- Provide a diverse array of learning activities that directly tie to those defined outcomes.
- Use assessment data to improve instruction and learning, and participate in an ongoing College-Wide dialogue about teaching and learning.
- Develop and refine department curriculum as necessary to maintain currency in pedagogy and content
- Adopt new teaching methodologies as appropriate.
- Implement department, division, and/or institutional goals as assigned.
- Maintain office hours, turn in grades on time, meet assigned classes.
- Submits course syllabi and other required documents on time.
- Manages the classroom facility.
- Keeps accurate attendance and grade records.
- Meets other professional obligations as stated in the Faculty Annual Plan and Evaluation.

Scholarly & Creative Activities (Professional Development) & Service to the College:
- Endeavors related to a faculty member's teaching assignment that contribute to the discovery, dissemination, and practical application of knowledge and/or skill.
- Acquire and/or maintain certification.
- Attend conferences, workshops, and/or training appropriate to one's field.
- Complete coursework related to one's teaching assignment.
- Create teaching methodology and instructional design.
- Other activities that contribute to keeping current in the content field.
- Helping the College meet the goals and objectives of its mission and strategic plan.
- Provide competent advising to students seeking AAS, AS, and/or AA Degrees and program certificates.
- Fulfill College service requirements by making meaningful contributions on campus and/or to community service groups.
- Participate in institutional and departmental recruitment and retention activities. Assist in the evaluation and selection of textbooks and other resources and materials in one's assigned area.
- Serve on department, division, and institutional committees.
- Assist in program and curriculum review, revision, and the development and assessment of learning.
- Maintain classrooms and/or labs.
- Demonstrate a willingness to embrace and apply the provisions of the College's mission statement, purpose, philosophy and commitment to diversity.
