Temporary Part-time Ball Park Attendant
DEPARTMENT: Parks
WAGE: $18.00 - $20.87, T-Table Range 6
HOURS: Mainly Weekdays and weekends as needed, 5-9 pm
DURATION OF POSITION: March – October
POSITION AVAILABLE: Until filled, position to begin early March
GENERAL FUNCTION
Perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance duties in a ballpark setting and similar open space areas and perform related work as required.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
A. Essential Functions
1. Oversee the activities of the ballfields offered throughout the spring, summer, and fall including team practices, youth and adult leagues, and tournament games.
2. Establish a friendly, professional rapport with players, coaches, umpires, and spectators.
3. Operate park maintenance equipment such as riding mowers, hand tools, backpack blower, and other similar equipment. Ensure all equipment and tools are properly stored.
4. Open and/or close ballpark gates, buildings, and restrooms. Turn on and off ballfield lights when needed.
5. Collect and maintain rosters and other paperwork.
6. Inspect ballfields and facilities for safety.
7. Monitor activities in the ballfields in order to ensure a safe environment for all users. Report any concerns to the ballfield scheduler.
8. Must be able to collect and remove garbage and other debris from the public property and perform light custodial duties, such as restocking restrooms, litter pickup, cleaning up sunflower seeds, etc.
9. Employee will be expected to assist other crew members as needed/directed and perform duties as deemed necessary. Often requires working alone.
10. Record and report any accidents, incidents, problems, or anything out of the ordinary. Completes incident reports.
11. Must have the ability to work weekdays and occasional weekends, as needed.
12. Perform other related duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is primarily performed outdoors in varying weather conditions. Requires occasional
jumping, crawling, sitting, climbing, throwing, writing, cleaning, and feeling.
Work is primarily performed on weekdays and will usually begin around 3pm until 9pm.
MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
1. Knowledge of safe working practices.
2. Ability to arrive on time and be punctual to the ballpark facility.
3. Ability to perform regular assignments proficiently, independently, and effectively.
4. Ability to communicate effectively.
5. Knowledge of, and ability to work with coaches, players, and umpires.
6. Must have a valid Washington Drivers License with an acceptable driving record.
7. Must be 18 years old or over.
8. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, coworkers, and the general public.
9. Must be able to pass WSP Watch Background Check.
