Parks and Recreation Facility Maintenance Technician I Duties: Leads, guides, coaches, and regularly communicates with the part-time custodial team to help them reach their full potential. May inspect and oversee work, providing advice to improve performance. May assist the supervisor with hiring, training, and evaluating team members. Is open, approachable, engages and supports team members, and encourages two-way communication and feedback. Serves as a member of the custodial team cleaning, sanitizing and ensuring equipment is orderly and in its place. Trains and reinforces custodial practices, including the use of chemicals, custodial equipment, and accepted methods. Maintains custodial inventory, including equipment, supplies, and chemicals. Notifies supervisor of needed items and safety concern Serves as the primary contact for facility maintenance during evenings and weekends. Serves as the day custodian on the weekends. Opens and closes the facility. Inspects, prepares for opening, and cleans as necessary. Closes and ensures facilities are appropriately safe and secure. Tests and documents pool chemical levels and inspects pool mechanical equipment. May add chemicals or adjust mechanical systems. Communicates pool status with aquatics and recreation center customer service staff. May assist with facility maintenance and pool issues at the Outdoor Pool. Completes preventive maintenance and repairs of recreation facilities, including light construction, remodeling, and supporting larger projects, as well as various plumbing, carpentry, and tile work tasks. Supports the operation of the recreation center, including communicating and coordinating with customer service and aquatics staff, responding to emergencies, and assisting with facility oversight and supervision. Assists with facility use, including set-up and takedown of programs, events, and rentaAbility to physically withstand the strain of performing manual tasks for long periods, to lead, guide, teach, train, coach, and delegate work to part-time employees, to work over thirty feet above ground from a movable person lift, ladder, or scaffolding, adverse weather conditions, may work in or around water and slippery surfaces; exposure to sawdust in the air, machinery noise, height, paint and solvent fumes. Exposure to raw sewage through the unclogging of restroom facilities and hazardous chemicals. Requirements: Be a High school graduate or equivalent with one years experience cleaning and completing light facility maintenance tasks. Willingness and ability to learn how to operate large pools, chemical, and mechanical systems. Ability to become a Certified Pool Operator or similar within three months of hire. Possess a valid Colorado drivers license. Other Requirements: Ability to plan and organize work, perform skilled and semi-skilled tasks in the repair and maintenance of the recreation center, develop and maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees, and the general public.
