Park Maintenance Worker {Seasonal - Part-Time} (Job ID: 13-2026-07)

The City of Independence is seeking seasonal Concession Workers to work under the city's Parks & Recreation Department. The Parks & Recreation Department is committed to excellence in programming, facilities, and service while improving the quality of life within our community.

The primary responsibility of City of Independence Concession Workers are to greet residents and guests upon approaching our concession stands, as well as provide high-quality food service. It is important that the Concession Worker staff know safe and healthy food practices, become familiar with all menu items, and be able to multitask throughout the day.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Greet and interact with residents and guests at point of contact,
• Educate customers on menu options, and prepare orders,
• Adhere to all Food Service health codes and standards,
• Maintain a clean and healthy working environment,
• Maintain cleanliness standards including but not limited to regular sanitizing, dishwashing, sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, and taking out trash,
• Work directly with SPORTSMAN brand software to process all transactions, take payments, and operate the cash register,
• Interact/respond to supervisory staff and/or residents/guest requests as needed,
• Alert supervisory staff immediately to areas/incidents that need attention.

Requirements:

• Must pass a drug test and background check.
• Must possess at least a high-school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Must be able to work afternoons, evenings, some weekends and holidays throughout the term the entire 7-day week (15-25 hours per week).

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, and move in and around external grounds for extended periods of time.
• Maintain vigilance and fast reaction times.
• Ability to physically stand, bend, squat and lift up to 50lbs.

• Must be able to work indoors and outdoors under typical Ohio Weather conditions.

Salary Information:

• The pay range for this role is $12.00 - $17.00/per hour depending on experience.
