Summary of Position IN HOUSE / Not remote or hybrid

The Litigation Paralegal will provide comprehensive legal and administrative support to attorneys and legal professionals in a fast-paced litigation environment. This is a temporary position for approximately three months, based in the clients San Fernando Valley, California office. The ideal candidate will have experience with California state and federal court procedures and be proficient in eDiscovery tools, specifically CSDisco and Everlaw.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform legal and factual research, including records research and identification of relevant judicial decisions, statutes, legal articles, codes, and other pertinent materials, with a focus on California law.

• Organize, analyze, cross-check, and validate information; prepare written reports.

• Draft legal documents, including briefs, pleadings, appeals, legal memoranda, declarations, motions, affidavits, complaints, and discovery documents (interrogatories and responses), in compliance with California court rules.

• Prepare and file all court documents electronically and in person, as required by California state and federal courts.

• Prepare correspondence and edit legal forms and documents for accuracy.

• Build and maintain databases and files; organize and track case files.

• Review and monitor new and updated laws and regulations, particularly those relevant to California.

• Maintain litigation online library and coordinate law office activities such as subpoena delivery.

• Assist in the location and interviewing of witnesses; help with trial preparation, including witness lists, exhibits, and trial binders.

• Assist lawyers in the courtroom as needed.

• Create, maintain, and monitor discovery indexes; draft and serve summons.

• Coordinate and summarize depositions; prepare and organize trial exhibits and trial binders.

• Assist with settlement negotiations and draft settlement agreements.

• Utilize eDiscovery tools, specifically CSDisco and Everlaw, for document review, production, and case management.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and office hardware (printers, scanners, copiers).

• Ability to multi-task, adapt to changes in schedule and workflow, and adjust priorities quickly.

• Must be able to work in a seated position for extended periods, use a computer keyboard, and operate standard office equipment.

• Ability to move about the office, deliver work product to multiple attorneys, and communicate clearly in person and by telephone.

• Must be able to travel locally as work requires.


Qualifications – Education/Work Experience

• Minimum 4-year baccalaureate degree and a paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved or accredited program, or commensurate experience as defined by California Business & Professions Code § 6450 et seq.

• Minimum of 3 to 5 years prior work experience in litigation, with experience in California courts preferred.

• Demonstrated proficiency with eDiscovery platforms, specifically CSDisco and Everlaw.
