Job Description:
- Applies and maintains broad contemporary knowledge of principles and practices associated with the legal job family. Planning, research and analysis, and optimizing business processes are significant components of the position. Follows the ethical requirements as set forth by the Rules of Professional Conduct of the state.
- Full performance and typical duties of assigned legal services area(s) may include: knowing and applying practices and procedures associated with legal services;applying specialized knowledge and skill in the assigned legal area;reviewing and analyzing cases and information to assist in preparation of legal matters and trial preparation;assisting in case or matter preparation by drafting and preparing documents such as FOIA responses, patent documents, subpoenas, and by contacting witnesses, preparing pre-trial orders, form instructions, and witness and exhibit lists.
- Independently conducts research and documents results (e.G., retrieving information from libraries, commercial legal databases, internet services, and factual research);locates and confers with expert witnesses and resource people;generates standard and some non-standard reports;and establishes, organizes, and maintains trial notebooks, expert witness notebooks, document indexes and lists, and database files.
- Independently organizes and analyzes documents and information;plans and schedules activities in support of assignments;interprets applicable rules and regulations;and serves as a liaison to coordinate internal and external matters and cases. May coordinate and oversee assigned work activities of the first three job standard levels.
