Job Details
- Perform and coordinate due diligence, including review of title commitments, surveys, zoning reports, and underlying transaction documents
- Assist in preparing and reviewing real estate conveyance and closing documents across acquisitions, dispositions, financings, and debt and equity transactions
- Coordinate all aspects of real estate closings, including signature page packages, document delivery, closing checklists, and recording requirements
- Prepare closing books and ensure all post-closing tasks are completed accurately
- Notarize documents related to real estate transactions and foreclosure sales
- Prepare and record filings in registries and Land Court
- Assist in preparation for and attend foreclosure sales
- Draft and file UCC financing statements, and order and evaluate UCC, lien, litigation, and similar searches
- Prepare and file entity formation documents
- Draft leases, purchase contracts, easements, deeds, and other real property documents
- Interface directly with firm clients and outside entities on assigned matters
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, meet deadlines, and provide timely updates to attorneys and clients
- Maintain accurate and detailed time records to meet billable hour requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
- Paralegal Certificate or related degree preferred
- Active Notary commission in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts required
- Minimum 5 years of real estate paralegal experience, with a focus on commercial transactions, closings, and/or foreclosures
- Hands-on experience with title review, UCC filings, Land Court and registry recordings, and closing coordination
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, iManage, and Orbital; familiarity with Kofax a plus
- Strong ability to draft real estate documents including leases, deeds, easements, and purchase contracts
- Meticulous time recording habits and ability to meet a 1,600 hour annual billable requirement
- Proven ability to manage competing deadlines across multiple transactions without sacrificing accuracy
- Must be available to work in office five days per week with overtime as needed
