Pain Psychology Post Doc Fellowship

As a Pain Psych Post Doc Fellow, you will be responsible for assessment, intervention/psychotherapy, and consultation. The ideal candidate will have specialty pain management training and broad experience in psychotherapy with medical and rehabilitation populations.

Primary Duties: 

• Psychologists and fellows serve as an integral part of multidisciplinary rehabilitation teams, working closely with physicians, case managers, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and nurses to assess patient needs, develop treatment goals and recommendations, and provide guidance to patients and their families.  

• Gain experience in providing immediate consultation, warm hand-offs. and evidence-based short-term interventions to address the full range of behavioral and mental health concerns, lifespan development concerns, and preventive/ healthy behavior change; Be supervised by at least one senior scholar who actively promotes the postdoc's professional development.  

• Establish an individual development plan (IDP) that incorporates equally the postdoc's career and training goals and the mentor's research goals.  

• Focus on assessment, consultation, and treatment of adult patients with a range of neurological and medical conditions.  

• Clinical activities include interdisciplinary intake evaluations, outpatient therapy with a primary focus on cognitive behavioral and family systems approaches 

Qualifications: 

• Doctoral degree in psychology, APA or CPA accredited from a regionally accredited university. 

• Licensed Psychologist or eligibility for licensure in the District of Columbia or Maryland depending on the position's location. 

• Post doctoral specialty training in pain management preferred. 

• APA approved internship and clinical experience in psychology preferred.
