Outside Plant Field Engineer (Ames, Iowa)

Startech Networks is seeking an experienced local OSP Field Engineer with US Work Authorization to join our growing team in Ames, Iowa. The successful candidate must possess the knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience requirements outlined below. They should have a thorough understanding of various AT&T related OSP Wireline processes and guidelines. We can only interview and hire local candidates in the greater Ames & Des Moines, Iowa area.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform pole assessments within assigned boundaries.
• Identify improper service drops, clearance violations, and unauthorized attachments.
• Assess J-hook and support strand requirements.
• Collect attachment height measurements (pole and mid-span).
• Complete full pole profiles for permit submissions.
• Identify locations requiring underground duct extensions and handhole placement.
• Conduct post-remediation inspections and document compliance.
• Upload field data weekly (daily preferred) and provide monthly progress reports.

Requirements

• Experience in aerial fiber construction and pole attachment standards.
• Knowledge of NESC clearance requirements.
• Familiarity with pole permitting and make-ready processes.
• Experience using field data collection tools (e.g., Katapult).
• Strong documentation and reporting skills.
