As an Outside Plant Engineer you will:
* Design outside plant fiber optic infrastructure from end point to end point, including overhead and underground systems
* Develop detailed construction packages including drawings, scope of work, bill of materials, and technical documentation
* Engineer fiber systems in joint-use communication space and underground environments
* Support permitting, easements, and right-of-way coordination
* Provide engineering support during construction, including field inspections and design adjustments
* Oversee fiber optic splicing, termination, testing, and troubleshooting considerations
* Apply NESC (IEEE C2) standards and utility engineering best practices
* Utilize AutoCAD and GIS tools (ArcGIS) to develop and maintain engineering designs
* Update as-built records and create post-construction documentation
* Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and internal stakeholders across multiple concurrent projects

The ideal candidate will have:
Required Skills & Qualifications
* Minimum 2 years of experience designing both overhead and underground outside plant fiber optic infrastructure
* Strong knowledge of IEEE C2: National Electric Safety Code (NESC)
* Experience with AutoCAD required
* Experience with ArcGIS preferred
* Knowledge of RUS 1751F Bulletins preferred
* Understanding of fiber optic systems including splicing, termination, testing, and wave division multiplexing (WDM)
* Ability to interpret engineering standards, drawings, and specifications
* Strong communication and collaboration skills
* Other combinations of education and experience may be considered
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
* Experience in utility, telecom, or infrastructure environments
* Experience with permitting, easements, and right-of-way processes
* Field engineering or construction support experience
* Familiarity with joint-use utility construction standards
Pay Rate: $60 - $75 per hour.
*Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
