The Operating Room Supplies Coordinator plays a vital, behind-the-scenes role in supporting safe, efficient surgical care. This is an entry-level position, physically active and hands on within Surgical Services, focused on materials management, inventory control, and real-time supply support in the operating room environment.
This role is not administrative or clerical. Successful candidates spend the majority of their shift on their feet, moving supplies, stocking inventory, and communicating directly with OR staff to ensure the right materials are available at the right time.

Education
High School Diploma or GED, required
Bachelor’s degree, preferred
Experience
Minimum of three (3) years of hands-on materials management experience, required
ORMinimum of three (3) years of direct OR/Surgical Services experience, required
Surgical Services experience must include active involvement in supply handling, inventory control, or equipment support
Administrative-only or office-based experience does not meet this requirement

Work Environment & Physical Expectations
Frequent walking throughout surgical and perioperative areas
Regular bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, and pulling during the workday
Ability to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 20 lbs
Work performed primarily in active clinical areas with changing priorities
Perform daily hands-on supply distribution and inventory support for Surgical Services
Receive, transport, stock, and replenish supplies throughout surgical and perioperative spaces
Monitor inventory usage, adjust par levels, and respond to real-time supply needs
Maintain clean, organized, and audit-ready supply and par locations
Identify and manage expired, obsolete, backordered, and converted products
Complete inventory transactions and audits using Lawson, handheld scanners, and materials systems
Communicate clearly and professionally with OR staff, leadership, and vendors regarding supply status and issues
Coordinate bill-only items, product deliveries, and vendor-supported supplies
Support equipment needs, including repairs, loaners, and substitute equipment
Ensure emergency and after-hours supplies are stocked and available
Participate in supply chain huddles, meetings, and disaster response activities
Follow all departmental policies, infection prevention practices, and regulatory standards
