Schedule: 9:30 pm - 6:00 am

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Confer with Slitter Operator from previous shift, if any, regarding status of slitter operation.
  • Set up work on slitter subject to final approval.
  • Operate slitter in a safe and efficient way; trouble-shoot and correct problems as needed, with assistance from the Supervisor.
  • Splice rolls in such a way that no blocking on the under-layer occurs.
  • Lift off rewind shafts from slitter with help of Slitter Assistant; re-thread the shafts.
  • Complete required paperwork in written English neatly and accurately; make sure that all written instructions on order sheet, and other instructions, are followed.
  • Maintain proper level of oxydry power in reservoir.
  • Maintain slitter and work area in a clean condition.
  • Report any equipment or material problems to team/team leader immediately for prompt correction of problem.
  • Participate in general clean up following shift change.
  • Clean each roll rack before it leaves your work area.
  • Responsible for all In Process Inspection, communicating any possible defects to downstream processes.
  • Communicating issues to other Departments via Roll Tags, Comments in digital format, Signage on Rolls.
  • Operator is responsible for Quality of all products, and communication associated with their rolls.
  • Perform other essential and non-essential functions as assigned.
  • To perform all job functions in accordance with the requirements of the organization’s safety policies, FSSC22000, ISO 22000, prerequisite programs, and following all related procedures and work instructions.

 

NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Perform duties of Slitter Assistant as needed.
  • Participate in jobs rotation to promote cross-training.
  • Assist on cast lines as needed.

 

EQUIPMENT:

Slitter, scale, roll doctor, measuring tapes, knife, calculator, label printer, roll carts, stretch wrapper, core cutter, and other additional equipment as the work may require.

 

CRITICAL KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

  • Proficiency in operating heavy cutting and sawing equipment, and knowledge of safety instructions and procedures for such equipment.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to mechanically lift heavy loads in a safe way.
  • Good communication skills in the English language (reading, writing, listening and speaking).
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

 

PRIMARY JOB LOCATION: Plant; Slitter Area.

 

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL FUNCTIONS:

Manual Lifting: Up to 70 lbs. - Over 70 lbs. MUST use Roll Hoist

Climbing/Balancing: Not required.

Stooping/Bending Over:  Occasionally.

Standing/Sitting:  Standing and sitting while working.

Hearing: Required for personnel and machinery, and through instruments for safety.

Vision: Corrected to 20/40 required.

Working Hours: 8-12 hours per day (40-60 hrs. / week) based on production demands

 

ESSENTIAL ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:

Inside/Outside: Mostly inside environment.

Cold/Heat: Seasonal variances.

Noise/Vibrations: Significant background noise, earplugs available.

Fumes/Dust/Odors: Fumes, dust and odors present.  Respirators and filters available.

The position is in the factory and could involve standing, walking and lifting or bending for long periods of time throughout the day. Expected to be available to work in all areas of production and exposed to any number of elements. Inside building is not environmentally climate controlled in summer months.

The performance of this position includes exposure to the manufacturing areas where certain areas require the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as Safety Glasses with Side Shields, Hearing Protection, Steel Toe Shoes, and proper gloves.
