Position Overview
A growing electronics manufacturer specializing in high-power RF and microwave products is seeking an experienced Operations Planner to manage end-to-end production planning and scheduling.
This role supports a low-volume, high-mix ('job shop') manufacturing environment across multiple complex product lines, including:
RF amplifier modules
Integrated amplifier systems (rack- and chassis-level assemblies)
RF passive components (e.g., filters)
The Operations Planner serves as the key link between Engineering, Manufacturing, Procurement, Quality, and Customer Service to ensure on-time delivery, cost control, and adherence to quality standards. This position reports directly to executive leadership.
Electronics manufacturing experience is required.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Scheduling
Develop and manage detailed production schedules for complex, multi-stage electronic assemblies
Plan the full fulfillment cycle for each shipment, from material availability through final test and delivery
Create and maintain Master Production Schedules (MPS) and support material requirements planning (MRP)
Coordinate production across PCB assembly, subsystem integration, RF testing, final assembly, and inspection
Ensure subcomponent manufacturing aligns with final delivery commitments
Analyze equipment utilization, workforce capacity, and long-lead materials to optimize throughput
Collaborate closely with engineering to understand BOM status and production readiness
Utilize and support ERP system planning and inventory tools
Ensure compliance with applicable military and export requirements
Supply Chain & Inventory Management
Monitor inventory levels of high-value, long-lead electronic components
Partner with procurement to prevent material shortages and minimize excess inventory
Coordinate with suppliers to resolve delivery delays and quality concerns
Build and maintain strong vendor relationships
Production Coordination & Monitoring
Serve as the primary planning contact for production supervisors and technical teams
Monitor schedule adherence and proactively address bottlenecks
Coordinate cross-functional teams to resolve production disruptions
Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve cycle time and equipment effectiveness
Quality & Compliance
Ensure production processes comply with ISO, military, and customer-specific standards
Support inspection and test planning at key manufacturing stages
Maintain documentation and traceability required for high-reliability applications
Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action efforts
Cost & Performance Management
Monitor production costs and identify cost-reduction opportunities
Analyze KPIs and operational metrics to improve scheduling efficiency
Track WIP, lead times, inventory turnover, and schedule adherence
Provide regular performance reports to management
Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor"s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related technical field
MBA or advanced degree is a plus
Experience
5-7+ years of experience in operations planning, production scheduling, or supply chain within electronics manufacturing
Experience in low-volume, high-mix production environments (defense, aerospace, telecom, or similar industries preferred)
Proven ability to manage complex schedules with multiple dependencies
Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar)
Technical Knowledge
Understanding of electronic assembly processes and production workflows
Familiarity with electronic testing environments and quality standards
Knowledge of industry standards and regulatory requirements relevant to defense/aerospace manufacturing
Experience with clean assembly environments and ESD control is a plus
Preferred Qualifications
CPIM, CSCP, PMP, or similar professional certification
Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma experience
Experience in regulated defense or aerospace environments
Familiarity with export compliance regulations (ITAR/EAR)
