We are searching for a person with Investment Casting Experience to step into an Operations mangers spot and succession to the GM position within1- 2 years.
LOCATION: Wisconsin
Role Summary
The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the entire production lifecycle—from wax pattern injection to final finishing. The primary goal is to optimize production throughput and casting yield while maintaining the stringent quality standards required for sectors like aerospace, defense, and medical devices.
Core Responsibilities
1. Production & Process Management
- End-to-End Oversight: Directing all departments including Wax/Assembly, Shell/Slurry Room, Foundry (Melt/Pour), and Post-Cast Finishing.
- Yield Optimization: Monitoring scrap rates and identifying root causes for common defects such as ceramic shell cracking, porosity, or slag inclusions.
- Scheduling: Utilizing ERP/MRP systems to manage production flow and meet customer delivery deadlines.
2. Technical Quality & Safety
- Process Control: Ensuring adherence to strict temperature, humidity, and chemical parameters in the shell room and melting furnace.
- Compliance: Overseeing safety protocols for high-heat environments and hazardous materials, ensuring full OSHA and environmental compliance.
- Continuous Improvement: Implementing Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Kaizen initiatives to reduce waste and cycle times.
3. Strategic Leadership
- P&L Responsibility: Managing department budgets, labor costs, and capital expenditure (CapEx) for new equipment like vacuum furnaces or automated shell-building robots.
- Workforce Development: Training and mentoring a specialized workforce in technical casting techniques and metallurgical standards.
This position requires 3-5 years Investment Casting Experience.
