The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for an Office Assistant 2 position at Spring Creek Correctional Center (SCCC) in Seward, Alaska.

What you will be doing:
Work closely with managers to provide human resource services at a clerical level. Perform duties in multiple administrative functional areas that require adapting internal processes to meet the needs of the organization; liaison between institution and inter agency offices regarding personnel and payroll matters.
Process payroll for approximately 200 +/- employees. Manage employee personnel files.
Assist with processing all mail for Spring Creek Correctional Complex. Perform services that require determining administrative, security, and/or programmatic tasks to be completed, prioritizing work, and deciding the appropriate action to be taken based on interpretation of organization`s programs, policies and regulations.

The working environment you can expect:
Spring Creek Correctional Center is a maximum-security state-operated adult correctional institution. The institution has a capacity of over 500 male inmates and employs approximately 200 staff. While much of Spring Creek's inmate population serves long-term sentences, we also house prisoners serving shorter sentences.

- Perform data entry using Microsoft XL and Word;
- Knowledge of Policies and Procedures

- The ability to work effectively, calmly, and professionally with staff, prisoners and various professional groups in an environment and experiences interruptions throughout the day.
- The community of Seward is nestled against a backdrop of peaks and passes sculpted by Ice Age glaciers; Seward’s ice-free harbor has long served as a natural gateway to the vast scenic and resource riches of Alaska’s huge interior.
- Residents enjoy outstanding outdoor recreation including the Kenai Fjords National Park, which is dominated by glaciated landscapes. Exit Glacier is one of the many glaciers in the park and is only a short drive from downtown Seward.
- Seward is located on Resurrection Bay, a fickle body of water teeming with an abundant species of fish and frolicking marine mammals.
- Seward is home to the Mt. Marathon Race which is run every July 4th. The race totals 3.1miles and climbs 3022 feet. Top finishers cross the finish line in about an hour.
