Basic Job Functions:

Nucor Steel Texas is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Occupational Health Coordinator.  This is a professional position with a high degree of autonomy and responsibility. 

PAY RANGE: $84,000 to $120,000 + Annual ROA Bonus

Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to the following:

Medical Response & Care

  • Provide immediate medical assessment and treatment of injured and ill teammates onsite. 
  • Deliver emergency medical services as a licensed Paramedic or Nurse in an industrial setting.
  • Maintain readiness of all medical equipment, supplies, and emergency response systems.

Occupational Health Coordination 

  • Manage onsite occupational health activities, including triage, follow-up care, and documentation.
  • Coordinate with external healthcare facilities and specialists for advanced care needs. Support workers’ compensation case management and return to work processes.

 Safety & Compliance

  • Assist in health-related safety initiatives, training, and preventive programs.
  • Leading the ERT rescue program.
  • Teaching CPR and First Aid classes.
  • Administering the plant drug and alcohol testing program.
  • Managing occupational medical programs including administering audiograms and vision tests.
  • Qualifying employees for respirator use through pulmonary function and fit testing.
  • Managing the industrial hygiene program.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, state, and company health standards.
  • Participate in incident investigations and provide medical insight.
  • Maintain and manage employee health records.
  • Monitor and control inventory of health and safety supplies/equipment.
  • Organize, coordinate, and schedule plant-wide events and onsite clinics.

Teammate Support

  • Promote a culture of health, safety, and well-being across the facility.
  • Build strong relationships with teammates to encourage early reporting and proactive care.

This position requires after-hours support and willingness to travel. 

Candidates must be willing to further their education in areas such as advanced emergency medical training (including, but not limited to ACLS, and PHTLS) and OSHA training if there is no previous significant work experience in those areas. 

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.; Nucor will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future.

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Currently Nationally Registered or Texas-certified EMT-Paramedic certification, and/or an active Texas Registered Nursing license.
  • Minimum three (3) years EMS/Paramedic or emergency care nursing.
  • Must currently live within a 45-mile radius of Jewett, Texas or be willing to relocate within a 45-mile radius of Jewett, Texas.
  • May not have any relatives (including but not limited to: Father, Mother, Brother, Sister, Son, Daughter, Spouse, Father-in-law, Mother-in-law, Brother-in-law, Sister-in-law, Son-in-law, and Daughter-in-law) employed by Nucor Steel Texas.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • General Knowledge of Workers Compensation, OSHA, ADA, and FMLA.
  • Industrial/occupational health experience.
